Bearcats look to build off nine-win season, four national qualifiers in 2023-24

VESTAL, N.Y. – Nearly eight months after last competing at nationals, the Binghamton wrestling team is ready to open its 2024-25 season this weekend in Bethlehem, Pa.

The Bearcats will start the year with a dual on Saturday at noon against No. 17 Illinois as part of Journeymen Wrestling's Wranglemania. The following day, the team will compete in its first tournament of the season at Journeymen's Collegiate Classic.

"This weekend is a great opportunity to showcase the improvements that we have made from last season," said Binghamton Wrestling Head Coach Kyle Borshoff. "The team is excited and ready to compete. Regardless of the results, it will be a great weekend for us to figure out what direction we need to go in our training over the rest of the fall semester."

Binghamton looks to build off a strong 2023-24 season that featured nine dual wins and four wrestlers qualifying for the NCAA Wrestling Championships. Two of those wrestlers, Brevin Cassella and Cory Day, are back on the team. The duo enters this season ranked in the top 20 of both the FloWrestling and InterMat rankings in their respective weight classes. The team also features the return of both Nate Lucier and Micah Roes, who finished eighth and seventh respectively at the 2024 EIWA Championships.
