FLEMING ISLAND, Fla. – Junior
Ryan Millevoi posted the first top 20 finish of the season by finishing in a tie for 14th at Sacred Heart's Spring Break Invitational Saturday at Eagle Harbor Golf Club. Sophomore
Brandon Conner finished just behind him in a tie for 16th, his third top 20 finish this year.
The Binghamton golf team, meanwhile, finished fifth out of nine teams in its first competition for the spring season with a score of 298+306=604/28-over par. Purdue Fort Wayne won the invite at 290+287=577/1-over par. Burke Pitz won medalist honors for Purdue Fort Wayne with a score of 69+72=141/3-under par.
Millevoi, Conner and
Evan Sitts each finished the first day of the invite tied for 10th on the individual leaderboard at 73/1-over par. Both Conner and Millevoi would remain in the hunt throughout much of the day, with the latter shooting 76/4-over par in the final 18 holes to finish at 149/5-over par. Conner, meanwhile, shot 77/5-over par to finish at 150/6-over par. Sitts would fall to a tie for 38th after carding an 83/11-over par to finish at 156/12-over par. His score for the round would be dropped for the team score as it was the highest among the five Bearcats competing as a team.
Harrison Blech and
Sean Shen both improved from their first round scores. Shen followed up an opening round 79/7-over par with a 76/4-over par to finish in a tie for 33rd at 155/13-over par. Blech would bounce back from shooting an 84/12-over par on Friday with a score of 77/5-over par on Saturday. He would finish tied for 51st at 161/17-over par.
Among the three Bearcats competing as individuals,
Tynan Jones finished with the best score at 79+80=157/13-over par, leading him to finish in a tie for 47th. One shot behind him was
Jackson Vesper, who scored an 80/8-over par in each round to finish tied for 49th at 160/14-over par.
Shawn Colella would finish 61st at 86+93=179/35-over par.
Binghamton's next competition is from Saturday through Sunday when it competes in the Carpetbagger Classic at Worthington Manor Golf Club in Urbana, Md.
