VESTAL, N.Y. (BUBearcats.com) - The Binghamton women's lacrosse team (4-3) will host Niagara (4-1), Saturday, March 9, at the Bearcat Sports Complex. First draw is slated for 1 p.m. 

Saturday's contest is the Bearcats' High School and Club Program Day where local high school and club teams are invited to attend the game and show their support. Fans will have the opportunity for a post game meet and greet and poster signing with Bearcat women's lacrosse players. 

Last time out, BU dropped a tight, 12-11, game in overtime on the road at Coastal Carolina Wednesday afternoon. Abigail Carroll highlighted action for BU once again against the Chanticleers, registering a team-best six points (3G, 3A) in the defeat. Olivia Muscolino followed with four points (4G) while Hayley Weltner added three (1G, 2A). Carla Curth, Madison Murphy and Mia Forte also found the back of the net for Binghamton with one goal apiece. 

Two Bearcats reached career milestones on Wednesday with Weltner surpassing 200 draw controls and Angelina Suau reaching 50 caused turnovers. Weltner sits just two career draw controls away from breaking Rebecca Golderman's (2015-19) program record of 202. 

Binghamton is currently tied for third in the America East team standings with Bryant at 4-3 and behind UMass Lowell (6-0) and Vermont (5-2). BU leads the conference in draw controls per game (16 avg), assists per game (6.00 avg), shots per game (33.14 avg) and woman-up goals per game (2.43 avg). 

The Bearcats rank 21st nationally in draw controls per game and 36th in draw control percentage. BU also sits 20th in the country in shots per game, 39th in points per game, and 43st in assists per game. 

Carroll ranks second place among all AE players in points per game (5.00) and shots per game (8.43). Her goals per game (3.29) and assists per game (1.71) averages rank her third in the conference overall. 

The junior midfielder owns seventh nationally in points and 11th in shots per game. Carroll also ranks 16th in total goals and 24th points per game. 

Three Bearcats rank in the top-10 players in the conference for draw controls per game with Welter in second (6.00 avg), Carroll in third (5.71 avg) and Scheidel in ninth (3.57 avg). Weltner's average ranks her 28th in the country in the category. 

Binghamton leads the all-time series with Niagara 8-6 with the last match-up between the two resulting in a 13-12 home win for the Purple Eagles. Each of the last seven contests between the two schools have been decided by less than three goals. 

Niagara is off to a hot start this season with a 4-1 record. The Purple Eagles claimed victories over UC Davis, Colgate, Le Moyne and Marquette while dropping one game at Arizona State. 

Next up, Binghamton will host Cornell, Tuesday, March 12, at the Bearcat Sports Complex. Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
