Four-time all-conference midfielder carries elite collegiate credentials overseas; season begins in late April

VESTAL, N.Y. - After producing one of the most comprehensive playing careers in program history, Binghamton women's soccer midfielder Olivia McKnight has signed a professional contract and will begin her pro career in Iceland.

McKnight will play for Vestri FC in Ísafjörður, a town at the northwest tip of Iceland. Their season runs from late April to mid-September. The team plays in the 2. deild kvenna league.

"I am extremely excited and grateful for this opportunity," she said. "I am looking forward to continuing my soccer journey and am so grateful Binghamton has led me to that."

In her Binghamton career, McKnight led the Bearcats to five postseason appearances, including two tournament runnerup finishes and two regular season titles. She was a four-time America East all-conference selection, including three times on the first team. McKnight won back-to-back America East Midfielder of the Year honors and was a two-time all-region selection. McKnight started all 76 collegiate games and tallied 24 goals (T-3rd all-time at Binghamton), 18 assists (4th) and 66 points (3rd). She also was a two-time America East All-Academic Team member.

"The Bearcat women's soccer program is proud of Olivia McKnight reaching her dream to play at the professional level," head coach Neel Bhattacharjee said. "She has been a consistent contributor to our team on the field and also as a leader as a captain. Livi has always performed with competitive fire that made her one of the best midfielders this program and the America East have ever seen. We are proud of her making this next step and will be looking forward to her continued success in Iceland."

McKnight is the second Bearcat to play professionally overseas, joining Kayla Saager '19, who played with FC Slovacko Zeny in the Czech Republic in 2019.
