Women’s Tennis Falls in NEC Championship First Round

Bearcats win doubles decision before dropping singles matches

Box Score WEST WINDSOR, N.J. (BUBearcats.com) - The Binghamton women's tennis team (1-19, 1-7) fell to No. 9 Merrimack, 4-2, in the first round of the Northeast Conference Championship Saturday morning at the Mercer County Tennis Center. 

BU started off the match on the right foot, taking two out of three of the doubles matches in the No. 1 and No. 3 slots to grab an early 1-0 lead over the Warriors. 

Merrimack mounted its comeback in individual play, registering wins in the first three singles spots to lead 3-1. 

Maria Pereira posted the Bearcats sole individual victory 6-0, 6-2 at fourth singles before the Warriors claimed the 4-2 team win after a three set battle at No. 5 singles.
