STATE COLLEGE, Pa. –
Evan Sitts set a new career high for his Binghamton career with his fourth top 20 finish of the season after he finished tied for 15th at the Rutherford Intercollegiate Sunday at Penn State's Blue Course.
The Oneonta, N.Y., native shot 72/1-over par during Sunday's final round to bring his total score to 76+72+72 = 220/7-over par. Sitts gained three spots on Sunday after finishing the first two rounds in a tie for 18th on Saturday.
Binghamton would finish the competition in a tie for 13th at 314+308+300 = 922/70-over par. Penn State won the event, while Valparaiso's Caleb VanArragon took medalist honors.
"Evan [Sitts] had a good, solid tournament," said Binghamton Head Coach
Bernie Herceg. "We'll learn from this tournament and work on parts of the game that will help us going into conferences."
This is the third event in a row that Sitts has finished in the top 20, and third during the spring season. Sitts previously finished tied for 12th at the Southern Invitational on April 2, being named a Prime Performer that week by the Northeast Conference for his performance. Sitts also finished tied for 15th at the Carpetbagger Classic on March 17.
Sitts' previous career high for top 20 finishes in a season was three in 2022-23. He now has nine top 20 finishes for his Binghamton career.
Binghamton has a quick turnaround, as the Bearcats will compete next at the Wildcat Spring Invitational from April 15-16 at LuLu Country Club in Glenside, Pa. The opening round begins on Monday with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
