GLENSIDE, Pa. – For the third event in a row,
Evan Sitts finished in the top 20 after he ended up 13th at the Wildcat Spring Invitational Tuesday at LuLu Country Club.
Sitts shot his best round of the tournament Tuesday after carding a 71/even-par. He finished the competition with a score of 72+75+71 = 218/5-over par.
"He [
Evan Sitts] had another great tournament this week," said Binghamton Head Coach
Bernie Herceg. "Consistent rounds. I know his second round, he could have putted a little bit better. I think the putter was a little cold for him. Today, he played very solid, and it helped the team during all three rounds."
It is the fourth event in a row that Sitts has finished in the top 20. The Oneonta, N.Y., native previously finished tied for 15th at the Carpetbagger Classic, tied for 12th at the Southern Invitational and tied for 15th at the Rutherford Intercollegiate. Sitts now has five top 20 finishes this season and 10 for his career at Binghamton.
The Bearcats would finish sixth as a team at the Wildcat Spring Invitational.
Jackson Vesper finished in a tie for 31st at 76+73+75 = 224/11-over par.
Brandon Conner ended up 36th at 74+73+80 = 227/14-over par.
Tynan Jones would finish right behind him in a tie for 37th at 76+77+75 = 228/15-over par. Lastly,
Shawn Colella would finish in a tie for 44th at 80+77+78 = 235/22-over par.
Villanova would go on to win the event, while Peter Weaver won medalist honors for the Wildcats.
Binghamton will now get ready for the Northeast Conference Men's Golf Championship. It will take place from April 26-28 at Callaway Resort & Gardens in Pine Mountain, Ga. This will be the first time the Bearcats will compete at this event after joining the conference as an associate member in the summer of 2023.
