BALTIMORE, Md. (BUBearcats.com) - The Binghamton women's lacrosse team (8-6, 3-1) faces top-ranked UMBC (9-4, 4-1) on the road Saturday afternoon in a crucial America East match-up at UMBC Stadium. First draw is slated for 3 p.m. 


Second overall in the conference standings, BU seeks its fifth straight victory of the season and fourth in AE play. Last time out, the Bearcats delivered their second consecutive 20+ goal game and fourth of the season at home over UNH, 20-8, April 13.

Reigning America East Offensive Player of the Week Olivia Muscolino led the Bearcats with eight points for the second consecutive game on a career-high six goals and two assists. Madison Murphy followed with five points on four goals and one assist while Emma Blloshmi posted her second straight four-goal game. 

Carla Curth registered four points on one goal and three assists. Kristen Scheidel came in just behind her teammate with three points on one goal and two assists. Hayley Weltner and Mia Forte also found the back of the net twice for BU. 

Sofia Salgado matched her career-best with 12 saves against UNH, her fifth double-digit performance of the season. 

BU leads in the conference in assists per game (6.07) and shots per game (31.57). The marks rank the team 38th and 30th in the country in those categories, respectively. Binghamton sits second among all AE teams in points per game (19.50) and goals per game (13.43). 

Muscolino ranks in the top-10 of all AE performers in three major offensive categories. The junior attacker is fifth in goals per game (2.86) and sixth in points per game (3.71) while sitting eighth in shots per game (6.29). 

Two active Bearcats rank in the top-10 players in the conference for draw controls per game with Weltner in fifth (4.86 avg) and Scheidel in sixth (4.57 avg). Angelina Suau also sits 10th in the America East for caused turnovers per game (1.14).

Goalkeeper Sofia Salgado is third in the AE with 10.84 goals against average and fourth in saves percentage (.414).  

UMBC leads the all-time series over Binghamton 16-4. BU has taken the team's last two match-ups 18-13 and 20-14.

The Retrievers are also looking to secure their fifth straight win of the season and fifth in America East competition against the Bearcats Saturday. Last time out, UMBC defeated Vermont, 11-7, on the road. 

Next up, Binghamton hosts Bryant in its final game of the season, Saturday, April 27, at 1p.m. BU will honor its 10 graduating seniors before the start of the contest.
