VESTAL, N.Y. – The America East Track & Field Outdoor Championships are still a week away but Binghamton has significant slate of meets this upcoming weekend.
On Thursday, redshirt freshman
Brian Luciano and senior
Gianna Hoose head to Penn Relays to take part in the College Division Hammer events. The women's competition begins at noon while the men's event starts at 5 p.m.
Luciano has already recorded the 24
th-best distance in the East Region (209-2). Hoose, meanwhile, has been a consistent top-eight finisher at the conference meets and set her PR in the hammer last weekend at the Bucknell Team Challenge.
Penn Relays is the oldest and largest track & field competition in the United States. It has been hosted by the University of Pennsylvania annually since April 21, 1895.
On Friday-Saturday, several of Binghamton's men's and women's sprinters head to the University of North Florida for the East Coast Relays. It will mark the Bearcats' first-ever appearance at the meet.
The Bearcat sprint relay teams – which will compete at North Florida - have already had an impressive year. The women's 4x100 team of freshman
Tatum Norris, sophomore
Angie Mesa-Espinosa and graduate students
Sophia Morone and
Gabby Hyatt has clocked the second-fastest time in program history (46.30). The men's 4x400 relay team of seniors
Marcus Johnson and
Oliver Madariaga, junior
Joey Cardascia and sophomore
Samson Joseph, meanwhile, won the America East indoor title back in February.
Two other conference champions are also heading to the East Coast Relays for Binghamton. Senior

The final meet the Bearcats head to this weekend is the Cornell Big Red Invitational, which will be held on Sunday.
There is no team scoring at any of the meets this weekend.
