VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton baseball (17-22) begins a four-game non-conference stretch by hosting Cornell (13-17) at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bearcats Baseball Stadium. The game was moved back a day with rainstorms headed into the area for Tuesday night.Â
The Bearcats sit a half-game up on UAlbany for the sixth and final playoff spot with six conference games remaining. In Orono over the weekend, BU dropped two of three games to Maine but flexed its firepower in Sunday's finale with a 21-4 romp.Â
Binghamton is hitting .266 as a team and has a 5.44 pitching ERA - both figures rank third in the America East. The Bearcats' .974 fielding percentage leads the conference.Â

Hayden Tarsia (1-2, 4.58) will make his fifth start of the season. Â
Cornell has dropped four straight, including a three-game series vs. Columbia over the weekend. The Big Red are in third place in the Ivy League standings (10-8), one game out of second with three games remaining. Columbia has clinched the top spot and host role for the conference tournament.Â
The Big Red are hitting .279 and have a 7.63 pitching ERA.
Junior outfielder John Quinlan leads the team with a .394 average. Freshman catcher Mark Quatrani has team-highs of eight home runs and 30 RBI.Â
Cornell leads the all-time series 25-19-1. The teams split the last nine games (4-4-1) before Cornell rallied to take the first 2024 encounter two weeks ago at the Stadium. In that game, BU built a 7-2 lead before the Big Red rallied for a 9-7 win. One strike away from a loss, Cornell scored four runs in the ninth to decide it. Â Â
