Bearcats and Dolphins square off at 3 p.m. at Stadium

VESTAL, N.Y. - Having just had its five-game win streak snapped on Sunday, Binghamton baseball will look to recapture some momentum when the Bearcats (12-15) host I-81 neighbor Le Moyne (12-14) in a single game at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Bearcats Baseball Stadium.

Binghamton won its fifth straight game with Saturday's 5-1 win over America East foe UMass Lowell but then suffered a doubleheader sweep on Sunday - losses that have pinned the Bearcats in seventh place (3-6) one-third of the way through the conference schedule. After the Le Moyne game, BU braces for a key three-game set against first place Bryant (8-1) this weekend in Smithfield, R.I.

The Bearcats are hitting .269 (first in AE) and have a 5.75 pitching ERA (fourth in AE). Binghamton leads the league with a .971 fielding percentage.

Senior right fielder Mike Gunning leads the conference with 29 RBI in 27 games. He also ranks second in home runs (11), triples (2) and slugging percentage (.714).

Freshman right-hander Hayden Tarsia (0-1, 5.06 ERA) will make his third start of the season.

Le Moyne has won six of its last seven and currently sits in sixth place (of 12) in the Northeast Conference midway through its first season back as a Division I program. The Dolphins baseball program previously competed in Division I from 1988-2011, making four NCAA Regional appearances, including three in a five-year span between 2003-07. The is now coming off back-to-back appearances in the Division II NCAA Championship, including a run to the East Super Regional in 2023. Last season, Le Moyne went 34-22 in its last go-around in Division II.

Over the weekend, Le Moyne took two of three from visiting Stonehill College to move over the .500 mark in league play. The team is hitting .255 (5th in NEC) and has a 5.82 pitching ERA (2nd).

Graduate right-hander Dewey Roden (1-1, 10.93 ERA) will make his fourth start of the season. The 6-foot-5 two-way player is a former America East All-Rookie selection for UMass Lowell before transferring to Le Moyne.

Le Moyne leads the all-time series, which dates back to 1970, 53-18. The teams haven't met in 16 years. In 2008, they split a home-and-home series with each team winning on the road.
