VESTAL, N.Y. – Junior
Sydney Leitner has been named the America East Women's Cross Country Performer of the Week. It marks the second time during her career that she has earned a weekly accolade from the conference – and the first instance in cross country.
At the Iona Meet of Champions this past Friday, Leitner was fifth out of 71 finishers with a 5,000-meter time of 18:27. It was her first race of the season.
Leitner has been named first-team all-conference in each of the past two America East Championship Meets. She placed fifth overall in 2022 and was seventh last year.
Previously, Leitner was named the America East Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week on April 9, 2024.
Binghamton heads to the Lehigh/Paul Short Run on Saturday, Oct. 5.
