Volleyball Handles Fordham, 3-0

Win marks the seventh in the last eight matches for Binghamton

BRONX, N.Y. (binghamtonbearcats.com) - Binghamton Volleyball (8-4) handled Fordham (3-5), 3-0, Friday night inside Rose Hill Gymnasium. The victory marked the Bearcats seventh in the last eight matches. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 
Binghamton began its dominance right away, holding its opponents to a .000 attack percentage and just six kills in the first set. The Bearcats chipped away at the Rams with two, 4-0 runs in the frame to claim a 25-14 set victory. Tsvetelina Ilieva and Ella Schabort recorded five kills apiece in the set one. 

The Bearcats notched a match-high .414 hitting percentage in the second frame. Binghamton registered an early 10-4 edge and maintained its advantage to win the set 25-16. Ilieva posted a match-best eight kills at a .400 clip in the stanza. 

Fordham attempted a comeback in the third set, tying the Bearcat lead nine times and taking it for themselves in four instances. Tied at 16, Binghamton notched three straight points to regain the edge, 19-16. The Bearcats closed it out with four consecutive scores, 25-19, to sweep Fordham, 3-0. 

MATCH NOTES 
  • The Bearcats out blocked the Rams 10-2 tonight, the fifth time this season Binghamton has totaled at least twice as many blocks as their opponents. The Bearcats have led the stat sheet for total blocks in all but three matches this fall.
  • Ilieva earned a match-high 19 kills at a .375 hitting percentage over Fordham, her ninth straight match with double-digit kills this fall and sixth time hitting .300 or better. 
  • Schabort notched 10 kills in her seventh consecutive match in double-digits to bring her season total to 108. Schabort ranks sixth in the America East with 2.70 kills per set. 
  • Johanna Remy and Misa Dlouha posted five blocks apiece against the Rams, a season-best mark at the net for Remy. 
  • Emily Cronkhite tallied a team-best 14 digs from the back row to average 3.21 digs per set so far this fall. The total was Cronkhite's seventh double-digit digs performance in a Bearcat uniform.
  • Lottie Scully registered 30 assists in the win, her seventh straight match with 20 or more helpers. Scully has recorded 20 or more assists in all but two contests for Binghamton this season.
