VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton swimming & diving program welcomes its largest combined incoming class this year. Twelve men and 12 women will make their debut when the Bearcats host Le Moyne on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the opening regular-season meet.
"We are excited to welcome a large and talented class to our program," head coach
Jerry Cummiskey said. "I believe this class will be the foundation for the continued success of our program for the years to come. We look forward to a group of freshmen and transfers that will come in and be major contributors to our program both in and out of the pool. Both of these classes have the ability to be program changing and bring a unique ability of being very versatile to help us in many ways. We have been extremely pleased with the work ethic we have seen from them this first month and can't wait to see them compete as we start our meet schedule this week."
On the men's side
Ryaan Alshami (Grand Forks, N.D.) earned first-team all-state honors at Grand Forks Central High School. He also qualified for the 2024 Winter Junior Olympics Meet.
William Deutmeyer (South Elgin, Ill.) was a two-time All-American at St. Charles North High School. He also earned All-State accolades four times.
Jackson Kennard (Auckland, New Zealand) was his country's age group title holder across all of the breaststroke events. He graduated from Auckland Grammar School.
Jonah Kirschbaum (Hewlett, N.Y.) specialized in the freestyle and fly events at Hewlett High School. He placed ninth in the 100 fly at the 2023 New York State (NYS) Championships.
Jacob Koclanis (Arlington Heights, Ill.) is a diving from John Hersey High School. As a senior, he was an Illinois High School Association (IHSA) state finalist. Koclanis subsequently earned both all-state and All-America honors.
Finnegan McFarland (Waterford, N.Y.) is a distance swimmer from the Christian Brothers Academy. At the 2023 NYS Championships, he was fourth overall in the 500 free.
Evan Peters (Rush, N.Y.) swam in the backstroke (back) and free events at Rush-Henrietta High School. He was a two-time Scholastic All-American.
Amir Sadykov (Binghamton, N.Y.) graduated as a five-time NYS Section 4 record holder at nearby Chenango Valley High School. He broke both the school and Southern Tier Athletic Conference (STAC) records in the 100 back.
Also arriving from Chenango Valley High School is
Tyler Schultz. He placed fourth overall in both the 200 IM and 100 breast at the NYS Championships.
Logan Shriver (Macungie, Pa.) was a three-time Pennsylvania Intercollegiate Athletic Association (PIAA) selection at Emmaus High School. He won the PIAA Sectional titles in both the 200 free and 500 free.
Cameron Stetzer (Pittsford, N.Y.) was named both the 2023 and 2024 Monroe County D1 Swimmer of the Year at Pittsford-Sutherland. He also earned first-team All-NYS honors in 2024.
Finally on the men's side,
John Zhang (Flushing, N.Y.) is a transfer from Bentley College. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School in 2023.
On the women's side,
Jane Brierley (East Hampton, N.Y.) is a sophomore transfer from UNC-Asheville. A graduate of East Hampton High School, she was the 2022 NYS champion in the 100 breast.
Emily Chung is a freshman (East Amherst, N.Y.) is a freshman from Williamsville North High School. She won both a pair of NYS Section 6 titles in the 200 IM.
Leonor Coelho (Lisbon, Portugal) competed for her country at the national level. She was part of the 800 free relay team that set the national record.
Rihanna Cordero (Middletown, N.Y) is a diver from Middletown High School. She competed at the 2023 YMCA National Meet.
Maichina Gennarelli (Yonkers, N.Y.) is a distance swimmer from Yonkers High School. She broke six school records and was an NYS state and sectional finalist for four straight years.
Jessica Heden (Belle Mead, N.J.) arrives from Montgomery High School. She qualified for the New Jersey Meet of Champions in the 500 free.
Natalie Kassirer (Orchard Park, N.Y.) is a five-time NYS qualifier from Orchard Park High School. She also qualified for the Junior National Meet three times.
Kylie McKee (Oneonta, N.Y.) is a graduate student who completed her undergraduate career at St. Bonaventure. She is a graduate of Oneonta High School and was named a 2018 NYS Section 4 All-Star.
Ava Moyer (Cherry Hill, N.Y.) swam for Camden Catholic High School. She qualified for the New Jersey Meet of Champions in both the 50 fly and 100 fly.
Fayanne Smith-Salzberg (Brooklyn, N.Y.) is a sophomore who transferrs from Middlebury College. She placed in both the 100 breast and 200 breast at the NESCAC Championships this past year. Her high school was Millennium Brooklyn.
Kait Sweeney (Tuckahoe, N.Y.) is a freshman from Eastchester High School. She was part of the NYS championship teams in both the 200 free relay and 400 free relay.
Finally,
Grace Vogt (Lake View, N.Y.) is a freshman from Frontier High School. She won the 2023 New York State (NYS) Section 6 titles in the 50 free and 100 back
