Volleyball Takes Down Le Moyne, 3-1

Three Bearcats record double-digit kills for the second straight match

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (binghamtonbearcats.com) - Binghamton Volleyball (9-5) took down Le Moyne (1-9), 3-1, on the road inside the Henninger Athletic Center. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 
The Bearcats and the Dolphins tied each other seven times at the start of the first set before Binghamton scored nine straight to lead, 18-9. Both teams went on their own 3-0 runs to keep the Bearcats ahead, 21-12, until Binghamton closed it out 25-16. 

Despite a 25-22 set loss, the Bearcats outhit the Dolphins .286 to .250 in the second frame. 

Binghamton came back with a vengeance in the third set and established an early 3-0 edge that Le Moyne did not overtake for the remainder of the stanza. The Bearcats registered a 10-1 run to lead 23-8 and claimed the frame victory 25-9. Binghamton held its opponents to a -.115 attack percentage and just four kills in the third set.

The Bearcats forced the Dolphins into a negative hitting percentage for the second straight set in the fourth while recording a match-high .538 clip themselves. Binghamton began the stanza 5-0 and continued to add on, leading by as much as 11 at 16-5 and 23-12 before winning the set, 25-13. 


MATCH NOTES 
  • Binghamton out blocked Le Moyne 11-4 tonight, the sixth time this season the team has totaled at least twice as many blocks as their opponents. The Bearcats have led the stat sheet for total blocks in all but four matches this fall.
  • Three Bearcats in Tsvetelina Ilieva, Ella Schabort and Viktoria Dimitrova all registered double-digits kills for the second straight match. 
  • With 24 against the Dolphins and 27 vs. West Virginia last Saturday, Ilieva posted 20+ kills in consecutive matches for the fourth time in her collegiate career. The performance is her 11th straight match with double digit kills and seventh time hitting .300 or better this campaign. 
  • Lottie Scully notched her first double-double of the season with a team-best 35 assists and 10 digs, the 17th double-double of her Binghamton career. 
  • Schabort recorded 10 kills against Le Moyne, her ninth consecutive performance in double-digits to bring her season kills total to 129. 
  • Dimitrova put up 10 kills at season-high .588 clip on 17 errorless swings, her second straight double-digit performance and fourth errorless match this year. She also tallied a season-high five blocks in the victory. 
  • Misa Dlouha added a Bearcat-best six blocks to continue leading the America East with 1.46 blocks per set and ranking second nationally with 76 total rejections. 
  • Regan Kadel made her collegiate debut vs the Dolphins, earning the start at setter while collecting eight assists and four digs. 
UP NEXT 
Binghamton returns home to begin America East play against UAlbany, Friday, Sept. 27. Match time is scheduled for 6 p.m. inside the Events Center.
