Men’s Soccer Heads to Cornell

Bearcats and Big Red square off Tuesday at 7 p.m.

STORY LINES

- Binghamton (6-3-1, 0-1-0 AE) was defeated 2-0 by UMBC on Saturday night in its opening conference match of the season. It took place on Homecoming Weekend. 

- Binghamton has broken into the United Soccer Coaches (USC) Northeast Region Poll for the first time since 2021. The Bearcats were ranked No. 10 in the Sept. 17 poll before moving up to seventh in the current Sept. 24 poll.

- Sophomore forward Anthony Randazzo leads the Bearcats and is tied for first in the America East with four goals and tied for third in overall points (with eight). Senior midfielder Billy Clark and Nahim are tied for third in the America East with three assists each. Senior back Luke Yates, meanwhile, is second in the America East with a pair of game-winning goals. 

- Graduate student goalkeeper Dylan McDermott - who finished with a season-best eight saves against UMBC - has posted three solo shutouts so far this season. 

- Cornell (5-1-2, 0-1-0 Ivy League) is ranked second in the current USC Northeast Region Poll. Like the Bearcats, however, the Big Red lost their conference opener on Saturday - 1-0 to Yale. 

- Alex Harris is tied for first in the Ivy League with five goals so far this season. He is also second with 12 total points. In goal, Ryan Friedberg ranks second in the conference with an 0.875 Goals Against Average (GAA) as well as a .750 save percentage. 

- Cornell leads the all-time series against Binghamton 10-4-1, having swept the past five meetings. Most recently, the Big Red won 2-1 at the Bearcats Sports Complex on Oct. 17, 2023. Binghamton's last win in the series remains a 1-0 triumph at Cornell back on Sept. 15, 2016.
