Bearcat duo ranked among top swimmers in the conference

VESTAL, N.Y. – Sophomore Evan Peters has been named the America East Men's Swimmer of the Week while freshman Julia Iwanow is the top women's rookie for the third week in a row. The announcement was made on Tuesday afternoon by the conference office.

Peters won four individual events and anchored the first-place 400 free relay team, highlighting Binghamton's men's team's Bryant.  Peters captured the men's 200 free (1:38.97), 500 free (4:36.96), 1,000 free (9:34.96) as well as the 400 IM (4:00.11). Three of his victories (200 free, 500 free and 400 IM) were pool records. In addition, three of Peter's times (200 free, 500 free and 400 IM) rank first in the America East this season while his 1,000 free time ranks second.

Iwanow, meanwhile, continued her stellar rookie campaign by sweeping the 100 breast (1:03.27) and 200 breast (2:15.89) in the Bearcats' dual meet against the Bulldogs. Both of those marks currently rank first in the America East. Iwanow is the first Binghamton women's swimmer ever to earn the conference rookie of the week award three times during their career.

Binghamton heads to the Bucknell Invitational Saturday at noon.
