Zyier Beverly totaled 17 points and a game-high 12 rebounds to pace Binghamton men's basketball (1-1) to a 66-56 win over visiting RIT in the team's home opener Wednesday night at Dr. Bai Lee Court at the Events Center.
The Bearcats jumped out to a 24-6 lead and led throughout, although the Tigers were within single digits with less than five minutes remaining.Â
Binghamton led 34-27 at half and Beverly led the second half effort with 13 of his team-high 17 points. For the game, he hit 5-of-5, including several alley-oop dunks, courtesy of junior point guard
Jeremiah Quigley, who chipped in 10 points, eight assists and two steals.Â

Wes Peterson, Jr. added eight points and four steals.
"Congratulations to RIT ... they came in and played hard and did a really good job of fighting back," head coach
Levell Sanders said. "I didn't think we played aggressive enough. We talked pregame about respecting your opponent enough to play as hard as you can play. and we definitely didn't do that today. We will learn from this and get better."
Binghamton finishes a three-games-in-six-days flurry when the Bearcats host Niagara at 2 p.m. Saturday.Â
