Women’s Lacrosse Hosts Colgate Wednesday

Bearcats look to bounce back from season-opening loss at Villanova

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (binghamtonbearcats.com) - Binghamton Women's Lacrosse (0-1) is set to face off against Colgate (1-0), Wednesday, at the Greater Binghamton Sports Complex. First draw is slated for 2:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Binghamton dropped its first game of the 2025 season to Villanova, 20-4, Feb. 8, inside Villanova Stadium. The Wildcats started the first quarter with three quick scores before Emma Blloshmi and Olivia Muscolino netted back-to-back goals to cut Villanova's edge to 3-2. The Wildcats then recorded five consecutive scores to end the frame 8-2. 

Blloshmi registered her second goal of the afternoon to open up scoring at 10:57 in the second quarter. Villanova posted another 5-0 run until Blloshmi completed her hat trick in the third quarter to make the game 13-4 in favor of the Wildcats. 

Villanova shut out Binghamton for the remainder of the contest, adding seven goals across the final two quarters to claim a 20-4 victory. 

GAME NOTES vs. VILLANOVA
  • Olivia Muscolino's first quarter goal against the Wildcats tied Ali Castiglie (2008-11) program record with 160 career points. Muscolino has found the back of the net in 48 of the 53 games she appeared in across her Binghamton career so far. 
  • Emma Blloshmi recorded her sixth career hat trick with three goals against Villanova, two coming on free positions. The junior scored seven free position goals last season for fourth best on the Bearcats roster. 
  • Despite the loss, Binghamton led Villanova in caused turnovers, 10-9. The Bearcats caused double-digit turnovers only twice in 2024 against Temple, Feb. 14, and Niagara, March 9. 
  • Gaby Castillo earned a career-high three caused turnovers and two ground balls.  
  • Maeve Sayre notched seven saves in her first career appearance for Binghamton. 
  • Jess Robinson registered her eighth career assist off Muscolino's first quarter goal, the sole assist for the Bearcats.
CHASING HISTORY
Senior attacker Olivia Muscolino needs to record one point against the Raiders to become Binghamton's career points leader. Muscolino tied Ali Castiglie's (2008-11) record of 160 career points with a first-quarter goal against Villanova, Feb. 8. 

Muscolino ranks third in Binghamton history with 116 career goals and fourth with 43 career assists. The New York native set a Bearcat single-season record last spring with 72 points, 52 goals and 120 shots.

SERIES vs. COLGATE
The series between Binghamton and Colgate stands tied at eight wins apiece. The Bearcats have claimed their last four games against the Raiders, including the teams last matchup, 16-15, in Hamilton, Feb. 21, 2024.

Colgate picked up its first win of the season over Monmouth, 18-7, Feb. 7, at the Greater Binghamton Sports Complex. First-year Head Coach Alyssa Guido earned her first win at the helm of the program while junior attacker Caroline Panzirer posted six points on four goals and two assists.
