Women’s Lacrosse Heads to Siena Saturday

Bearcats look to pick up second straight victory over the Saints

TROY, N.Y. (binghamtonbearcats.com) - Binghamton Women's Lacrosse (0-2) takes on Siena, Saturday, Feb. 15, at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's (RPI)'s Renwyck Fiels. First draw is slated for 11 a.m.

LAST TIME OUT 
The Bearcats fell to Colgate (2-0), 16-13, Wednesday, Feb. 12, inside the Greater Binghamton Sports Complex. 

Binghamton and Colgate traded goals in the first quarter to start off the afternoon tied at three. The Raiders registered four unanswered goals in the second frame before the Bearcats netted two to cut Colgate's lead to 7-5. Both teams found the back of the net once more to end the half 8-6 in favor of the Raiders. 

Colgate recorded the first goal in the second half before Binghamton went on a 3-0 run to equalize the contest at nine. The Raiders took back the lead with 5:46 left in the first quarter until the Bearcats posted back-to-back scores to go up 11-10. Colgate closed out the frame with another goal to head into the final 15 minutes tied at 11. 

Binghamton regained the lead, 12-11, off a goal from Olivia Muscolino to begin the fourth quarter. The Raiders rattled off four unanswered goals again to own a 15-12 advantage with 4:42 left in the stanza. Both opponents scored once more in the final two minutes of play to give Colgate a 16-13 victory. 

GAME NOTES vs. COLGATE
  • Olivia Muscolino became Binghamton's all-time points leader with a first-quarter goal against Colgate. Her four goals and two assists against Colgate brought Muscolino to 166 career points, besting Ali Castiglie's (2008-11) previous record of 160. 
  • Emma Blloshmi registered a career-high five points on four goals and one assist against the Raiders, her fourth career game with four goals. The performance was her second consecutive with three or more goals after she recorded a hat trick at Villanova, Feb. 8. 
  • Carla Curth tallied two goals and two assists in the contest, her fifth career game with four or more points. 
  • Anthea Hayslip and Sienna Fox posted their first collegiate goals against Colgate. Hayslip notched two goals in just her second appearance as a Bearcat. 
  • Maeve Sayre picked up her first start in goal, recording a career-high eight saves against the Raiders. 
CHASING HISTORY
With a first quarter goal against Colgate, Feb.12, senior attacker Olivia Muscolino rose to first in Binghamton program history for career points. Her four goals and two assists on Wednesday brought Muscolino to 166 career points, besting Ali Castiglie's (2008-11) previous record of 160. 

Muscolino's 121 career goals rank second in Bearcat history behind Rebecca Golderman's (2016-19) 124 scores while her 45 assists sits fifth. The New York-native also set a Bearcat single-season record last spring with 72 points, 52 goals and 120 shots.

SERIES vs. SIENA
Binghamton owns a 7-6 series lead over Siena and won the teams last matchup, 15-9, Feb. 28, 2024, in Vestal. The Saints picked up a 11-5 win on their home turf in the previous contest, Feb. 25, 2023. 

Siena opens the 2025 season against Binghamton this weekend. The Saints finished 2024 with a 13-6, 7-2 MAAC record and fell to Niagara, 9-8, in their conference semifinals.
