BOSTON, Mass/ITHACA, N.Y. – Graduate student Jenna Chan won in the women's 60 hurdles again and tied her own school record, highlighting Binghamton's performance at a pair of indoor track & field invitationals this weekend. The Bearcats competed at both the Boston/Valentine's Invitational as well as the Cornell/Kane Invitational. There was no team scoring at either meet.Â
Including Chan, Binghamton posted four individual first-place performances during the weekend.
Chan's victory came at Cornell and was her fifth win in that event this season. Furthermore, she tied her own school record of 8.39, which was set last weekend at the Penn State/Sykes & Sabock Challenge.
Fellow graduate student Penelope Paldino, meanwhile, was second in the same race with a time of 8.46. That marks the third-fastest time in Binghamton program history and would have tied the school record (set by Chan) last indoor season.
Also continuing her winning ways at Cornell was graduate student Gianna Hoose in the weight throw. She took top honors in the event for the fourth time this indoor season with a distance of 58-7 ¼.Â
The other Binghamton women's winner at Cornell was junior Lucciana Robertson in the high jump (5-6 ½).Â
On the men's side, John Garrison won the 3,000 at Cornell with a time of 9:06.98.
In Boston, the top Binghamton performance was turned in by senior Joe Cardascia in the men's 400. He was fourth overall in the invitational section with a time of 47.93.
Up next for Binghamton is the America East Indoor Championships, which will be held this coming Saturday-Sunday at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center.
