Women’s Lacrosse Takes Down Siena, 8-6

Bearcats pick up first victory of the season over Saints

Box Score TROY, N.Y. (binghamtonbearcats.com) - Binghamton Women's Lacrosse (1-2) defeated Siena (0-1), 8-6, Saturday afternoon at RPI's Renwyck Field. The victory is the first for the Bearcats this season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 
Siena jumped out to an early 3-0 lead before Olivia Muscolino found the back of the net off an assist from Christiana Mastrorocco with less than one minute left in the first quarter. 

Emma Blloshmi posted back-to-back goals in the second frame to equalize the contest at three. The Saints scored the next two goals across the second and third quarter to gain a 5-3 edge. Blloshmi and Mastrorocco notched two consecutive goals to tie the game, 5-5, for Binghamton.

Carla Curth and Blloshmi registered the first two goals in the final 15 minutes of play to give the Bearcats their first lead of the afternoon, 7-5. Siena added one more score before Muscolino converted on a free position to close out the contest 8-6 for Binghamton.

GAME NOTES
  • Emma Blloshmi posted career-high five points for the second straight game with four goals and one assist against Siena, her fifth career game with four or more goals. The performance was her third consecutive with at least three goals. 
  • Olivia Muscolino's two goals against the Saints brings her career total to 123, just one goal short of Rebecca Golderman's (2016-19) program record of 124. 
  • Maeve Sayre allowed just six Saints goals in her second start for Binghamton, making a career-best nine saves. The sophomore goalie also collected five ground balls. 
  • Christiana Mastrorocco recorded her first career goal and assist for Binghamton this afternoon. Her goal came off an assist from Blloshmi with 1:21 left in the third quarter. 
  • Blloshmi added a personal-best six ground balls vs. Siena along with a team-high four draw controls and two caused turnovers.

Binghamton stays in-state for a contest at St. Bonaventure, Wednesday, Feb. 19. Start time is slated for 3 p.m.
