Women’s Lacrosse Travels to St. Bonaventure Tuesday

Bearcats look to pick up second win of the season over the Bonnies

OLEAN, N.Y. (binghamtonbearcats.com) - Binghamton Women's (1-2) is set to face St. Bonaventure (2-2), Tuesday, Feb. 25, at the Marra Athletics Field Complex. First draw is slated for 12 p.m. on Bonnies Online Network+.

LAST TIME OUT
Binghamton picked up its first victory of the season over Siena, 8-6, Feb. 15, at RPI's ECAV Stadium. Siena jumped out to an early 3-0 lead before Olivia Muscolino found the back of the net off an assist from Christiana Mastrorocco with less than one minute left in the first quarter to cut the Saint's edge to 3-1. . 

Emma Blloshmi posted back-to-back goals in the second frame to equalize the contest at three. Siena scored the next two goals across the second and third quarter to gain a 5-3 edge. Blloshmi and Mastrorocco notched two consecutive goals to tie the game, 5-5, for Binghamton.

Carla Curth and Blloshmi registered the first two goals in the final 15 minutes of play to give the Bearcats their first lead of the afternoon, 7-5. Siena added one more score before Muscolino converted on a free position to close out the contest 8-6 for Binghamton.

GAME NOTES vs. SIENA 
  • Emma Blloshmi posted career-high five points for the second straight game with four goals and one assist against Siena, her fifth career game with four or more goals. The performance was her third consecutive with at least three goals. 
  • Olivia Muscolino's two goals against the Saints brings her career total to 123, just one goal short of Rebecca Golderman's (2016-19) program record of 124. 
  • Maeve Sayre allowed just six Saints goals in her second start for Binghamton, making a career-best nine saves. The sophomore goalie also collected five ground balls. 
  • Christiana Mastrorocco recorded her first career goal and assist for Binghamton this afternoon. Her goal came off an assist from Blloshmi with 1:21 left in the third quarter. 
  • Blloshmi added a personal-best six ground balls vs. Siena along with a team-high four draw controls and two caused turnovers. 

HERE COMES EMMA B 

Emma Blloshmi picked up her first career America East Offensive Player of the Week honor, Feb. 17. The distinction is the first weekly nod for the Bearcats this season after they defeated Siena, 8-6, Feb. 15. The honor is also a career-first for Blloshmi who was selected as America East Rookie of the Week twice in 2024. 

Blloshmi recorded 10 points on eight goals and two assists in two games for Binghamton last week. She tallied seven ground balls, seven draw controls and two caused turnovers across both contests. Blloshmi registered an impressive .720 shots on goal percentage and converted on 3-6 free position shots. 

The junior posted back-to-back five point games with four goals and one assist against Colgate, Feb. 12, and vs. Siena, Feb. 15. Blloshmi notched six ground balls, two caused turnovers, and four draw control the team's 8-6 win over Siena, Feb. 15

Blloshmi has recorded three or more goals in each of the Bearcats three games this spring. With four goals in Binghamton's 12-11 America East Championship win over UAlbany, May 3, 2024, and one in the team's first-ever NCAA appearance at Yale, May 10, 2024, the attacker has scored in the Bearcats last five contests. 

CHASING HISTORY
Senior attacker Olivia Muscolino's 123 career goals rank second in Binghamton program history, just one shy of Rebecca Golderman's (2016-19) 124 goals. 

Muscolino rose to first in Bearcat history for career points with four goals and two assists against Colgate, Feb. 12. With 169 career points, Muscolino bested Ali Castiglie's (2008-11) previous record of 160. 

She also set a Bearcat single-season record last spring with 72 points, 52 goals and 120 shots.

FIRST-TIMERS 
Maeve Sayre picked up her first career win in goal vs. Siena, allowing just six goals and notching a season-best nine saves. In her second start and third appearance in a Bearcat uniform, Sayre also registered five ground balls and one caused turnover. 

Christiana Mastrorocco recorded her first-ever goal and assist for Binghamton against Siena, Feb. 15. 

Freshmen Anthea Hayslip and Sienna Fox posted their first collegiate goals against Colgate, Feb. 12. Hayslip notched two goals against the Raiders in just her second appearance as a Bearcat. 

SERIES vs. ST. BONAVENTURE
St. Bonaventure owns a 3-2 record over Binghamton, winning the first three-matchups over the Bearcats in 2003, 2007 and 2009. 

Binghamton claimed the victory in the teams' last two contests, 19-3, March 8, 2015 at home, and 18-13, April 7, 2015. 

The Bonnies opened their season with a 13-12 overtime loss against Pittsburgh, Feb. 8, before they registered a win over Canisius, Feb. 12. St. Bonaventure fell to Niagara, 6-5, and recorded a 13-10 victory at Youngstown State.
