Women’s Lacrosse Set to Face Marist Saturday

Bearcats finish out three-game roadstand in Poughkeepsie before returning to Vestal

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (binghamtonbearcats.com) - Binghamton Women's Lacrosse (1-3) is set to face Marist (1-4), March 1, at Tenney Stadium. First draw is slated for 1 p.m. on ESPN+. 

LAST TIME OUT 
Binghamton fell to St. Bonaventure, 10-6, Feb. 25, at SBU's Marra Athletics Field. The Bonnies started off the afternoon's scoring in the first minute of play to take an early 1-0 lead. Emma Blloshmi and Carla Curth found the back of the net less than a minute apart to give Binghamton a 2-1 advantage next. 

The Bonnies netted the equalizer next until Olivia Muscolino gave the Bearcats' a 3-2 edge with two minutes left in the first quarter. St. Bonaventure shut out Binghamton in the second frame and registered four consecutive goals to own a 6-3 advantage heading into halftime. 

Blloshmi posted the first score of the half at 9:21 in the third stanza to cut the Bonnies' lead to two. St. Bonaventure recorded another 4-0 run next to go up, 10-4, with a quarter left to play. Muscolino and Blloshmi notched Binghamton's final two goals before St. Bonaventure clinched a 10-6 victory.  

GAME NOTES vs. ST. BONAVENTURE 
  • Olivia Muscolino became Binghamton's all time goals leader with two scores against the Bonnies, bringing her career total to 125. She surpassed Rebecca Golderman's (2016-19) previous record of 124. 
  • Emma Blloshmi posted her fourth consecutive game with three or more goals after she registered a hat trick over St. Bonaventure. She leads the Bearcats with 14 goals and 16 points so far this season. 
  • Angelina Suau registered a career-high seven ground balls vs. St. Bonaventure. Suau also matched her personal-best six caused turnovers against the Bonnies. She previously recorded six caused turnovers against Vermont, April 1, 2023.
  • Mckenna Kobler led the Bearcats with four draw controls, a career-high mark for the junior.  
HISTORY IN THE MAKING 
Olivia Muscolino rose to first-place in Binghamton program history with 125 career goals after she scored twice against St. Bonaventure, Feb. 25. The senior passed Rebecca Golderman's (2016-19) previous mark of 124. 

Muscolino became the Bearcats' all-time points leader just 13 days earlier against Colgate, Feb. 12. The attacker's 171 career points snapped Ali Castiglie's (2008-11) previous total of 160. She also set a Bearcat single-season record last spring with 72 points, 52 goals and 120 shots.

HERE COMES EMMA B 
Emma Blloshmi has posted three or more goals in each of Binghamton's four games this spring. The junior opened the season with a hat trick at Villanova, Feb. 8, before producing back-to-back five point, four goal contests against Colgate, Feb. 12, and at Siena, Feb. 15. Blloshmi recorded another hat trick at St. Bonaventure, Feb. 25. 

Blloshmi picked up her first career America East Offensive Player of the Week honor, Feb. 17. The distinction is the first weekly nod for the Bearcats this season after they defeated Siena, 8-6, Feb. 15. The honor is also a career-first for Blloshmi who was selected as America East Rookie of the Week twice in 2024.

With four goals in Binghamton's 12-11 America East Championship win over UAlbany, May 3, 2024, and one in the team's first-ever NCAA appearance at Yale, May 10, 2024, Blloshmi has scored in the Bearcats last five contests.  

SERIES vs. MARIST 
Marist owns a 13-4 series lead over Binghamton yet the Bearcats earned wins in the last three matchups. Binghamton recorded wins in the last two contests by more than 10 goals, 20-9, Feb. 18, 2024, in Vestal and 18-7, March 11, 2023, on the road. The Bearcats have faced the Red Foxes in each of the last 15 seasons, with the exception of the 2021 shortened slate. 

Marist owns a 1-4 record to start the spring with losses against New Hampshire, Hofstra, Army and Monmouth. The Red Foxes claimed their sole win over Vermont, 13-7, Feb. 22, at home. Last time out, Marist fell to Monmouth, 9-5, Feb. 26, at Tenney Stadium.
