Men’s Lacrosse Opens Season Saturday at Home Against Lafayette

Bearcats ready to begin 2025 campaign following six-win season in 2024

VESTAL, N.Y. – The 24th season of Binghamton men's lacrosse is set to officially begin on Saturday at noon, when the Bearcats welcome Lafayette to the Southern Tier for their first game of the year.
 
All of Binghamton's home men's lacrosse games this season include free admission on behalf of Station 45. For Saturday's game, the first 150 fans who enter the Bearcats Sports Complex get a voucher for a free cup of hot chocolate.

About Binghamton
  • The Bearcats are coming off a 2024 season where they posted an overall record of 6-7 and a record of 4-3 in America East Conference play. Binghamton has had a winning record against America East opponents two years in a row after going 5-2 in league play in 2023.
  • Liam Ferris, Lorenzo Ramos and Connor Winters each represent the Bearcats on the America East Men's Lacrosse Preseason All-Conference Team. Both Ferris and Ramos received second team all-conference honors in 2024. Ferris was second on Binghamton in goals with 32 and tied for second in assists with 10. Ramos, who helped lead Binghamton's defense throughout the season, tied for third on the team in caused turnovers with eight and collected 15 ground balls.
  • This year, Winters has a chance to break multiple program records held by Head Coach Kevin McKeown. The senior needs 10 wins to break the program record for career goalie wins (24) and 148 saves to pass McKeown for most career saves (509).
  • Both Andrew Girolamo and Jack Mellen look to build off a strong first season in the Southern Tier after the duo were named to the America East All-Rookie Team in 2024. Girolamo scored eight goals, recorded five assists, collected eight ground balls and caused one turnover in seven games. Meanwhile, Mellen recorded seven goals, two assists, five ground balls and caused one turnover.
 
About Lafayette
  • Following a 6-7 season in 2024, Lafayette began 2025 with an 11-8 victory at home against Air Force on Feb. 1. Both Joseph Duggan and Riley Sullivan recorded a hat trick, while Joe Doherty made 11 saves in goal for the Leopards.
  • Sullivan's hat trick follows a career year for the attack in 2024, when he scored a career-high 12 goals and added seven assists. The Roswell, Ga., native also collected five ground balls and caused three turnovers.
  • Cade Kilbride, who is one of the team captains for Lafayette, led the Leopards with four caused turnovers against Air Force. He previously caused a career-high 13 turnovers in 2024, the second-most on the team that year.
