Track & field turns in three first-place finishes at non-scoring meet

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Graduate student Jenna Chan won the 60 hurdles and broke her own school record, highlighting Binghamton's performance at the Penn State/Sykes & Sabock Track & Field Challenge on Saturday at the Ashenfelter Indoor Facility. There was no team scoring kept at the meet.

Chan came into Saturday's meet having twice won the 60 hurdles this indoor season with a school-record time of 8.44. On Saturday, however, she lowered that mark to 8.35. Chan's time is the fastest in the America East so far this season.

The Bearcats posted two other first-place finishes on Saturday. Redshirt sophomore Brian Luciano won the weight throw for the fourth time this season, recording a distance of 67-11. Graduate student Marcus Johnson, meanwhile, captured the men's 500 (1:04.36).

Also on the women's side, junior Alyssa Armitage placed second in the pole vault (13-1 ½) while fellow junior Lucciana Robertson was third in the high jump (5-7 ¼). Sophomore Kaya Duran was third in the 500 (1:24.13).

Up next for Binghamton is a pair of meets this coming weekend. The Boston/Valentine's Meet is set for Friday-Saturday while the Cornell/Kane Invitational will take place on Saturday.
