Women’s Tennis Takes Down RIT, 6-1

Bearcats claim first victory of the season, first under Head Coach Paul Caceres

Box Score ROCHESTER, N.Y. (binghamtonbearcats.com) - Binghamton Women's Tennis (1-3, 0-3) picked up its first win of the season over RIT, 6-1, Sunday afternoon inside Gordon Field House. The win marked the first victory for first-year Head Coach Paul Caceres. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 
Binghamton swept doubles play to start the afternoon, holding RIT to just six games across three matches to lead 1-0. 

Julia Pedraza Palacios earned a dominant, double-bagel win at sixth singles to open up individual play for the Bearcats. Kayla Castellano followed up her classmate's victory with an impressive, 6-1, 6-0 win of her own at No. 5 singles. Both victories were the first for the freshmen this spring. 

Nitya Vyas clinched the team victory for Binghamton on her birthday after she defeated RIT's Abby Murray, 6-0, 6-3, at fourth singles. Samantha Jaros and Caterina Casadei registered two more wins at No. 3 and No. 2 singles, respectively, to secure a 6-1 victory.
