STORY LINES

- Binghamton (12-8) defeated Fordham 13-3 on Sunday in its final game at the James Madison (JMU) Invitational. Senior third baseman Sarah Rende tied her career high with two home runs against the Rams. Freshman designated player Rachel Carey - the current America East Rookie of the week - belted a two-run home run and junior outfielder Bella Farina clubbed a three-run shot.

- As a team, the Bearcats lead the America East Conference in ERA (3.02) and fielding percentage (.969). They are also first with 15 home runs and 40 extra-base hits.

- Graduate student outfielder Brianna Santos is second in the conference in batting (.377) while junior first baseman Emma Lawson is fifth (.362) and also ranks first with seven doubles. Sophomore catcher Elisa Allen is tops with five home runs and 17 RBI while Carey is tied for second with four home runs. Lawson is also deadlocked for third with 15 RBI.

- On the mound, junior Brianna Roberts is 6-1 with a 1.99 ERA as well as one save. She leads the America East in both wins and ERA. Roberts and fellow junior pitcher Olivia Kennedy are also tied for first in the conference with 48 strikeouts.

- Graduate student outfielder Lindsey Walter heads into the weekend with a team-best, five-game hitting streak. She has also reached base safely in nine of the past 11 games.

- Carey has homered four times in the past seven games. She has posted the game-winning RBI twice during that stretch - one of which came on a grand slam against Fordham on March 7.

- Binghamton, which appeared in the D1softball.com Top 25 poll two weeks ago, currently has an RPI ranking of No. 89 out of 309 Division I programs. The Bearcats faced a pair of ranked teams (Florida and Duke) earlier this season.

- Mercer (14-12) competes in the Southern Conference. In their most recent outing, the Bears won 8-6 against Georgia State on Wednesday. Tori Hedgecock homered twice and Taylor Rogers drove in four runs in the victory.

- Hedgecock leads the Southern Conference with eight home runs and 30 RBI so far this season. She is also first in slugging percentage (.983), second with a .557 on-base percentage and fourth with a .442 batting average.

- The Bears' current RPI is 113. They faced nationally-ranked Florida State earlier this season.

- In the only previous meeting between the two teams, Binghamton defeated Mercer 7-4 on March 2, 2024 at the Gardner-Webb Tournament. Farina hit a two-run home run and Rende roped an RBI double in the victory.
