Track & Field Trio Earns AE All-Academic Honors

Stone, Chan and Paldino honored for academic and athletic excellence

VESTAL, N.Y. – Graduate students Josh Stone, Jenna Chan and Penelope Paldino have each been named to the America East All-Academic Teams for the recent indoor track & field season. The announcement was made on Wednesday afternoon by the conference office.

To be eligible for the America East All-Academic Team, student-athletes must have reached sophomore athletic eligibility, attain a 3.30 minimum grade-point average and be a contributor on their team. The squad is voted on by a committee of America East student-athlete support and athletic communications administrators as well as faculty athletic representatives.

There were 10 honorees on the men's team and 11 selections on the women's squad.

Stone was named the Most Outstanding Men's Track Performer at last month's indoor conference championships. He repeated as the men's 5,000 champion and was a close second in the 3,000. This marks Stone's first appearance on the Indoor Track & Field All-Academic Team. 

During the cross country season last fall, Stone also earned All-Academic honors from the America East. In addition, he was chosen as the 2024 SUNY Chancellor's Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year. 

Chan is a repeat selection on the women's All-Academic Team. She won the women's 60 hurdles at the America East Indoor Championships for the third time in four seasons.

In 2023, Chan was inducted into the National College Athlete Honor Society. The following year, she was named Academic All-District by the College Sports Communicators (CSC). 

Paldino, meanwhile, earned the America East's prestigious Elite 18 Award following the recent indoor championships. She placed second overall in the pentathlon. Like Chan, Paldino was also inducted into the National College Athlete Honor Society in April 2023.

Since the inception of the America East All-Academic Teams in 2006, Binghamton has posted 30 men's indoor track & field selections as well as 25 women's recipients.
