Bearcats take part in events at Bucknell, Georgia Tech and Virginia

VESTAL, N.Y. – It was a busy weekend for the Binghamton track & field program, as it took part in three meets all along the East Coast. While a handful of distance runners took part in the Virginia Challenge and some sprinters and hurdlers traveled to the Georgia Tech Invitational, the majority of the team competed at the Bucknell Team Challenge.

There was no team scoring at either Virginia nor Georgia Tech but there was at Bucknell. The Bearcat women were second out of seven teams while the men's squad placed fourth.

Binghamton posted seven individual winners at Bucknell as well as one first-place relay team. Sophomore Kaylen Tenemille won the women's 100 (12.06) and was part of the first-place 4x100 relay team that included fellow sophomores Dami Modupe and Ashlyn Rattray as well as junior Alepha Ferrer. The Bearcat quartet's winning time of 46.64 ranks No. 4 all time in program history.

The Bearcats also recorded four first-place finishes in the jump events at Bucknell. Sophomore Putu Sutayasa captured the men's long jump (23-6 ¾) while fellow sophomore Carlea Davis took top honors in the women's triple jump (37-8), junior Alyssa Armitage won the women's pole vault and sophomore Ava LaMarca was first in the women's long jump (18-6 ½).

In addition to Tenemille, two other Binghamton sprinters also won at Bucknell. Freshman Savanna Edwards was victorious in the 400 (58.25) and fellow freshman Cassidy Robleno placed first in the 400 hurdles (1:04.17).

Also at Bucknell, freshman Brennan Delany was second in the men's 110 hurdles with a time of 14.35. In the process, he recorded the second-best time in Binghamton program history and set the Bearcats' freshman record. The previous freshman record of 14.55 was set by Rory Quiller back in 2004 and the top overall time in program history of 14.19 was clocked by Jewdyer Osborn back in 1998.

At Georgia Tech, graduate student Marcus Johnson was the top Binghamton finisher. He placed second out of 44 finishers in the 400 hurdles with a time of 51.09.

The men's 4x100 was 14th at Georgia Tech - but recorded the No. 4 time in Binghamton program history. That quartet included freshmen Justin Hargraves and Caleb Alexandre, junior Samson Joseph as well as sophomore Marcus Nahim and clocked a time of 41.64.

At Virginia, meanwhile, senior Jennifer Mui was eighth overall in the 3,000 Steeplechase Invitational section (10:44.57).

Up next for Binghamton is Penn Relays, which is set for next Thursday-Saturday.
