VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton baseball (18-17) will carry a four-game win streak up I-81 to face longtime in-state rival Le Moyne (12-21) at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Dick Rockwell Field.
The Bearcats are coming off a three-game sweep of NJIT over the weekend - a sweep that dropped the Highlanders from first place in the America East and moved Binghamton into the middle of the pack at 8-7 as the teams reached the start of the second-half of conference play.
Freshman center fielder
Matt Bolton leads the Bearcats with a.371 average and leads the entire conference with 52 hits. Senior catcher
Zach Rogacki is batting .357 with 26 RBI. Senior third baseman
Devan Bade has a team-high 34 RBI and senior catcher
Evin Sullivan leads the team with nine home runs.Â
The Bearcats are hitting .289, have a 6.75 pitching ERA and a .976 fielding percentage.
Senior lefty
Caden Rothbaum (0-2, 4.09 ERA) gets the start against the Dolphins.
Le Moyne has dropped four of its last five but is 11-7 in the Northeast Conference, where the Dolphins hold a share of fourth place. The team lost its first 12 games of the spring but is 12-9 since, including a win over fellow America East member UMass Lowell. Le Moyne ranks fourth in the NEC in hitting (.259) and pitching (7.17 ERA) and is third in fielding (.965). The Dolphins were picked to finish fifth out of 11 in the NEC Preseason Poll.Â
The Dolphins hold a wide 53-19 cushion in the all-time series, which dates back to 1970. Binghamton posted a 10-3 home win last season. That game was the first between the two programs, separated by just 81 miles, in 16 years. In 2008, they split a home-and-home series with each team winning on the road. In that home win last April, the Bearcats scored six runs in the eighth inning to pull away.Â
