Grad student honored for second time in his career

VESTAL, N.Y. – Graduate student Marcus Johnson has been named the America East Men's Track Athlete of the Week. It marks the second time in his career that he has earned a weekly accolade from the conference.

Johnson placed second out of 44 finishers in the 400 hurdles at the Georgia Tech Invitational this past weekend. His time was 51.09.

Johnson's top 400 hurdles time this season is 50.98, which he recorded at the Colonial Relays back on April 3. That mark is currently tied for No. 18 in the NCAA East Region.

Previously, Johnson was named the America East Field Athlete of the Week on April 9, 2024. He earned the accolade for his performance in the triple jump.

Johnson is the defending America East outdoor champion in the 400 hurdles and captured the triple jump at the conference indoor meet back in February.

Binghamton heads to Penn Relays on Thursday-Saturday.
