Johnson fourth in men’s 400 hurdles, women’s 4x400 relay third in Eastern Section

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Graduate student Marcus Johnson was fourth in the men's 400 hurdles and broke his own school record in the process, highlighting Binghmaton's performance at Penn Relays this past weekend at Franklin Field. The three-day meet - which did not include team scoring - is widely considered one of the most prominent annual outdoor track meets in the nation.

Johnson's time of 50.82 eclipsed the previous mark of 50.87 which he set last spring when he won the 400 hurdle title at the America East Outdoor Championships.

Elsewhere on the men's side, redshirt sophomore Brian Luciano was eighth overall in the hammer (200-2).

On the women's side, the Bearcats' 4x400 relay team placed third overall in the Eastern Section finals. That quartet included freshmen Savanna Edwards, Sofia Toepfer and Cassidy Robleno as well as sophomore Kaya Duran and clocked a time of 3:55.74.

Up next for Binghamton is the America East Outdoor Championships, which are set for this coming Saturday-Sunday at New Hampshire.
