Men’s Lacrosse Set for Postseason Showdown Against Bryant

Bearcats to face top-seeded Bulldogs in the semifinals of the America East Men’s Lacrosse Championship on Thursday

VESTAL, N.Y. – Back in the postseason for the first time since 2023, the No. 4 seed Binghamton men's lacrosse team is set to take on No. 1 Bryant in the semifinals of the America East Men's Lacrosse Championship on Thursday at 4 p.m., at Beirne Stadium in Smithfield, R.I.
 
The winner of Thursday's contest advances to the championship game, where they will face either No. 2 UMBC or No. 3 UAlbany in Smithfield on Saturday at 1 p.m. Whoever takes home the America East tournament championship earns an automatic bid to the NCAA men's lacrosse tournament.
 
Binghamton and Bryant last played each other on April 19, with the Bulldogs holding on to defeat the Bearcats 13-12 in Rhode Island. Liam Ferris scored four goals in the loss for Binghamton. The two programs have faced each other once before in the America East Men's Lacrosse Championship, with Bryant winning 12-11 in the semifinals on May 4, 2023.

About Binghamton
  • The Bearcats punched their ticket to the conference tournament by defeating Vermont 12-7 on Saturday in Vestal. Connor Winters broke two program records while in goal for Binghamton. The netminder set the new single-game record for saves with 22, while also becoming the all-time leader in career saves with 519, passing Head Coach Kevin McKeown for the top spot. For his performance, Winters was named Goalkeeper of the Week by the America East on Monday for the second time this season. He previously received the honor on March 31.
  • Ferris scored another four goals against the Catamounts for his fifth hat trick in as many games, eighth this season, and 14th of his career. He needs one more hat trick to tie Matthew Keegan for the second-most career hat tricks in program history at 15. Ferris also now tied with Phil Cavallo for the sixth-most career goals in Binghamton history at 66.
  • Ferris and Winters were not the only members of the Class of 2025 to show up for the Bearcats on Senior Day. Gage Adams and Dan Garone each scored two goals for Binghamton against Vermont, while Nick Cartmill added a tally of his own in the fourth quarter.
  • Nolan Sharkey continues to have a stellar sophomore season for Binghamton, as the long stick midfielder caused two turnovers and collected two ground balls against the Catamounts. Sharkey has caused at least two turnovers in seven games this season. He ranks fourth in the America East in caused turnovers per game at 1.46 after putting up 19 in 13 games played.
  • Binghamton makes its third appearance in the America East Men's Lacrosse Championship in the last four seasons, previously appearing in both 2022 and 2023. The Bearcats are searching for their first America East men's lacrosse tournament championship in program history. Binghamton previously won an America East regular season championship in 2004.
 
About Bryant
  • The Bulldogs won their first America East regular season championship in program history after defeating UMass Lowell 17-12 on Saturday, making it also the first time that they will host the America East Men's Lacrosse Championship. Bryant joined the America East in 2023 after previously competing in the Northeast Conference.
  • Brian Russell and Dawson Rielly each scored four goals for the Bulldogs against the River Hawks. Rielly finished the regular season leading the America East in goals per game at 2.85, as he goes into Thursday's game with 37 tallies in 13 games played.
  • Bryant brings a high-scoring offense, with the Bulldogs leading the America East in goals per game (12.92), assists per game (7.92), points per game (20.85), shots per game (41.62), man-up goals per game (1.31) and man-up scoring percentage (.436).
