Bearcat duo played pivotal roles in clinching AE regular-season title

VESTAL, N.Y. – Sophomore catcher Elisa Allen has been named the America East Player of the Week and junior pitcher Brianna Roberts has been chosen as the conference's Pitcher of the Week. The announcement was made on Tuesday afternoon.

Allen hit .429 (6-for-14) with four home runs and nine RBI in leading Binghamton to a 4-1 week. She also drew three walks to finish with a .529 OBP. Her slugging percentage was 1.357 and her OPS was 1.886. Allen hit three of her home runs and drove in six of her runs in the Bearcats' three-game conference sweep over UMBC.

For the season, Allen has a conference-best 18 home runs and 43 RBI. Her home run total represents the third-highest mark by any player in the history of the America East. Allen also leads the conference with a .793 slugging percentage as well as a 1.181 OPS.

This marks the second time this season that Allen has been named the America East Player of the Week.

Roberts, meanwhile, went a perfect 3-0 with a 1.10 ERA this past week. In 19.0 innings of work, she scattered only 14 hits, struck out 27 batters and issued just seven walks.  Roberts is 16-2 with a 2.02 ERA so far this season. She continues to lead the conference in both victories and ERA and ranks second with 130 strikeouts.

This marks the fourth time this season and program-record sixth time during her career that Roberts has been named the America East Pitcher of the Week.

Binghamton (29-12) clinched the America East regular-season title on Sunday.
