Softball Hosts Bryant in AE Series

STORY LINES

- Binghamton (17-11, 3-2 AE) dropped two out of three games at UMBC this past weekend. After taking the opener 9-6, the Bearcats lost 3-2 and 11-10. Sophomore catcher Elisa Allen hit .500 during the series and clubbed three home runs. Freshman designated player Rachel Carey hit .384 (5-for-13) with a home run and four RBI.

- Junior first baseman Emma Lawson ranks first in the America East in batting (.366) while graduate student outfielder Brianna Santos is fourth with a .357 average. Allen is tops with nine home runs and 26 RBI while Carey has homered seven times and has driven in 24 runs.

- Junior pitcher Brianna Roberts is 9-2 with a 2.57 ERA. She leads the conference in both victories and ERA. Fellow junior pitcher Olivia Kennedy, meanwhile, is tied for second with 74 strikeouts.

- As a team, Binghamton leads the America East in batting (.275) and ERA (3.28) and is tied for first with a .962 fielding percentage.

- In its five America East games so far this season, Binghamton has batted .387 as a team with 14 home runs. The Bearcats have scored 10+ runs three times during that stretch.

- Heading into the series against Bryant, Binghamton has four players who are carrying at least a six-game hitting streak. Graduate student outfielder Linsdey Walter has a team-best, seven game hitting streak while Santos, Carey and junior outfielder Bella Farina have all hit safely in the last six games.

- Since moving into the Bearcats Sports Complex Softball Facility in 2013, Binghamton is 60-26 (.698) in conference games. The Bearcats also have an all-time record of 84-47 (.641) on their current home field.

- Bryant (11-18, 3-3 AE) lost 10-8 to visiting Rhode Island on Wednesday. McKenna Coleman went 2-for-4, scored three times and belted a two-run home run against the Rams. In their most recent America East series, the Bulldogs lost three straight games at UAlbany last weekend.

- Meaghan Houk leads Bryant and ranks second in the conference with a .366 batting average. She also ranks third with a .427 on-base percentage and is fifth with 21 RBI. On the mound, Maddy Wachter is 6-2 and ranks second in the conference with a 2.66 ERA. 

- As a team, Bryant ranks second in the America East in batting (.270), third in fielding (.948) and is sixth in pitching (5.72 ERA). 

- Binghamton leads the all-time series 7-2, having won four of the six matchups last season. The Bulldogs took two out of three games at home March 22-24 but the Bearcats swept all three of its home games April 27-28.

Binghamton has hit a pair of grand slams this season - freshman designated player Rachel Carey against Fordham on March 7 and sophomore catcher Elisa Allen against Mercer on March 15. Both grand slams came with two outs.

Fourth-year head coach Jess Bump has gone 103-72 at her alma mater. She is one of only three coaches in Binghamton program history to win at least 100 games - a feat she accomplished against Mercer on March 15.
