Bearcats square off against Stanford Friday at 5 p.m. EST

VESTAL, N.Y. – Less than 12 hours after capturing the 2025 America East championship, the Binghamton softball team (36-12) has learned of its next destination. The Bearcats will travel to the Oregon Regional as a No. 3 seed, where they will face No. 2 Stanford on Friday at 5 p.m. EST on ESPN+.. Also in the double elimination bracket are top-seeded Ducks and No. 4 Weber State. Oregon is the No. 16 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.

The squad gathered in the TAU room of the Events Center on Sunday evening to watch the live broadcast of the NCAA Selection show on ESPN2. Family, friends, athletic department staffers and members of the local media were also present.

"Being the third seed in a 16th-seeded regional is incredible," head coach Jess Bump said. "I honestly wasn't sure if we'd have a shot at being a No. 3 so to do that speaks volumes of what we have done this season. Our RPI is the best it's ever been and we've been 19-1 in our last 20 games so that's probably what the committee is looking for."

Stanford, Oregon and Weber State will all be first-time opponents for the Bearcats. The Cardinal compete in the ACC and are currently 40-11. The host Ducks are 47-7 and are a new member of the Big Ten Conference. Weber State, meanwhile, is 28-30 but won the Big Sky Tournament to claim the automatic NCAA bid.

This marks the second appearance by the Binghamton softball team in the NCAA Division I Tournament. In 2015, the Bearcats traveled to the James Madison Regional for games against the host Dukes and Fordham.

As a Division III and Division II program, known then as the Colonials, the softball team advanced to the NCAA Tournament four consecutive years (1995-98).
