Boston College transfer to add depth to the outfield

VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton softball program has announced the addition of Darien McDonough, an outfielder who recently graduated from Boston College. She will arrive on campus in August with a final year of eligibility remaining and work towards her master's degree.

In four seasons with the Eagles, McDonough appeared in 106 games with 73 starts. She homered six times and drove in 26 runs during her career with the ACC program. Her senior season (2025), however, was cut short due to an injury and she was able to redshirt and preserve the extra year.

A native of Lincoln, Rhode Island, McDonough was a three-time, first-team all-state selection at LaSalle Academy. She helped lead her team to the 2019 state title and played for the Rhode Island Thunder travel team.

"We are very excited to add Darien to our roster for the 25-26 season," head coach Jess Bump said. "With her high level ACC experience along with her softball IQ and competitive mindset, we see her making an immediate impact both in the outfield and at the top of our lineup. Most importantly, she is an amazing person off the field with high character and a team first mentality who will continue to help push our program towards another America East Championship."

Binghamton (34-16, 16-2 AE) swept both the America East regular season and tournament championships for the first time in program history. The Bearcats returned to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2015 and were the three seed at the Oregon Regional.
