Both upperclassmen were voted on as captains by their teammates

VESTAL, N.Y. – After helping the Binghamton men's lacrosse team return to the America East Men's Lacrosse Championship in 2025, both Connor Winters and Eoin MacKay will now help lead the program in 2026 as team captains, Head Coach Kevin McKeown announced Wednesday.

Both players were voted on as captains by their teammates. It is the first time that each of them will serve as a team captain at Binghamton.

"We are thrilled to announce Connor and Eoin as leaders for next season," said McKeown. "Both of these young men exhibit the drive and competitiveness that we are looking for from our team.  They are both selfless individuals who will capture the eyes and ears of everyone in the program."

In three seasons as the Bearcats' starting goalie from 2023-25, Winters has established himself as one of the top netminders in program history. During the 2025 campaign, Winters set the program record for both career saves (530) and saves in a game (22 against Vermont on April 26). The Webster, N.Y., native's 169 saves in 2025 also ranks third all-time for the program, 25 behind his record of 194 in 2023. For his performance, Winters received Second Team All-Conference honors from the America East, making it the second time he has earned all-conference recognition after he was named to the first team in 2023.

In 2026, Winters looks to set more career program records. He ranks second in wins (20, four behind McKeown's 24), second in saves per game (12.93, only behind Teddy Dolan's record of 13.41), fourth in save percentage (.527, with McKeown holding the top mark at .557).

MacKay enters his senior season in 2026 after enjoying his strongest performance in 2025. The defender from Bradford, Ontario set career highs in ground balls (6) and caused turnovers (3) while appearing in 12 of the team's 14 games. MacKay has ultimately played in 23 games for the Bearcats in his first three seasons in Vestal.

Binghamton made its third appearance in the America East Men's Lacrosse Championship in the last four seasons in 2025, previously qualifying in both 2022 and 2023. Winters was one of four Bearcats to earn all-conference honors from the America East. Liam Ferris, Andrew Girolamo and Lorenzo Ramos each were named to the first team, the second time in three seasons Binghamton has had three players make the conference's top team. Along with Winters, Thomas Greenblatt and Matthew Keegan received First Team All-Conference honors in 2023, with Greenblatt also being named the league's Offensive Player of the Year.
