Anderson elevated to Triple-A; Roselli moves to High-A Brooklyn

VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton baseball alums and current professionals Ben Anderson and Nick Roselli have earned promotions with their respective Major League Baseball organizations.

Now in his sixth year in the Texas Rangers minor league system, Anderson was promoted to Triple-A Round Rock (Texas) and will start Saturday for the Express, who are currently third in the Pacific Coast League East Division.  This is Anderson's second call-up to Triple-A after he made one relief appearance last summer. In eight Double-A starts between May and June, Anderson went 4-1 with a 2.20 ERA. He has made 82 professional appearances in six years and has a 3.95 career ERA.

Anderson was taken by the Texas Rangers in the 13th round of the 2019 MLB Amateur Draft. In his last season as a Bearcat in 2019, Anderson was named America East Pitcher of the Year after producing the highest strikeouts per nine innings in the 30-year conference history (11.05). He went 9-4 with 108 strikeouts and a 2.76 ERA in 88 innings and he broke school records for wins and strikeouts. Anderson ranked fourth in the nation in complete games (4), 28th in victories and 41st in strikeouts. In his final outing as a Bearcat, Anderson delivered a masterful nine-inning complete game as BU beat Hartford 2-1 in its opening round of the America East tournament at the Bearcats Baseball Complex.

Roselli, meanwhile, will begin his second stint with the New York Mets' High-A affiliate in Brooklyn - one step away from the Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies. Roselli produced a torrid month of July with a .345 average and 11 RBI in 16 games for St. Lucie in the Florida State League. He was the FSL Player of the Week before being promoted on Thursday. In 52 games at St. Lucie, Roselli collected 42 hits, including seven home runs, and drove in 31 runs. Brooklyn captured the South Atlantic League North Division first half title with a 46-20 record - the best win percentage in all of minor leagues.

Roselli was taken in the 11th round of the 2024 MLB Draft after a stellar three-year collegiate career at Binghamton. Roselli hit .349 with the Bearcats, including a sizzling .388 mark in 2024. In his three-year Binghamton career, Roselli accumulated 153 hits and 104 RBI in 115 starts. Nearly 40 percent of those hits were for extra-bases, including 26 home runs. He ranks among Binghamton's all-time top-10 in average (3rd), home runs (4th), on-base percentage (2nd, .442) and slugging (2nd, .608). In his junior season, Roselli shook off an early-season injury and earned America East all-conference accolades after hitting .391 in conference play. His on-base percentage hovered near .500 and half of his hits were for extra-bases.

Anderson and Roselli are looking to add their names to Binghamton's list of MLB players, which includes pitchers Scott Diamond and Murphy Smith.
