Mackay wins 1,500 Gold Medal at NACAC Meet

Binghamton alum continues preparations for World Championships

FREEPORT, BAHAMAS – With the World Track & Field Championships taking place next month in Tokyo, Binghamton 2021 alum is making the most of her preparation time. On Saturday, she won the gold medal in the women's 1,500 at the North American Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) Meet on Saturday at the Grand Bahamas Sports Complex.

Mackay's first-place time of 4:09.48 was a full-second better than her American teammate Dani Jones (4:10.49). Taking the bronze medal was Lucia Stafford of Canada (4:11.11).

The World Track & Field Championships will take place in Tokyo, Japan Sept. 13-21. The opening round of the women's 1,500 is set for Sept. 13 while the finals take place three days later.

Mackay punched her ticket to Tokyo with a bronze medal performance in the 1,500 at last month's USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
