VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton men's and women's tennis are teaming up for a special three-day event in the City of Binghamton this weekend. The Carousel Classic, co-hosted by Tennis Charities of Binghamton and Life is Washable, Inc. will feature intercollegiate and club sport competition and a youth clinic - all held at the courts at Recreation Park.
Binghamton will be joined by Colgate, Le Moyne and Niagara in the varsity competition, which will include six singles and four doubles round-robins. Play begins at 8:30 a.m. Friday with two rounds of doubles. At 11 a.m., more than 100 students from Horace Mann Elementary School will take part in a youth clinic on the Rec Park courts with all the participating schools. The children will then enjoy lunch from Big Zues BBQ and watch the afternoon matches.
The singles and doubles matches will continue Saturday and Sunday beginning at 8:30 a.m. each day.
The two-time reigning NEC champion Bearcat men's team will be making its fall debut at the Classic. The women will be competing for the second time after they opened play last weekend at the Navy Invitational.
