Bearcats honored during annual Green-White Meet

VESTAL, N.Y. – It's becoming an annual tradition for the Binghamton men's swimming & diving program.

Prior to Saturday's Green-White Intra-squad Meet, the Bearcat men's team was presented with their 2025 America East Championship rings. Binghamton won the 2025 America East title, marking its second straight conference crown as well as third in the last five years. The Bearcats have now won four America East men's titles, with the initial one coming back in 2003.

Of last year's 24 members of the men's swimming & diving team, 20 of them are returning this year. The other four - including all three of last year's graduates - were also on hand for the ceremony.

"It's great to have this event again," head coach Jerry Cummiskey said. "It's a culmination of what we did last year and we wanted to do it now so we can shift our focus to this year. We had a great group last year and we hope to keep things going this season."

Each member of the championship team was called up individually to receive their ring from Cummiskey. When they opened their boxes, they were not disappointed.

"Every year, the ring is beautiful," junior captain David Ponce said. "But having been a captain last year and having seen the guys come together to win the title makes this ring extra special for me."

Ponce was especially grateful that last year's three graduates - Elijah Lanfear, Jake Vecchio and Sandon Karinsky all took part in the event.

"It's really nice when the alums come back," he said. "They were a big part of my journey here and they still mean a lot to us as a team."
