ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Binghamton women's tennis began its 2025-26 season at the eight-team, three-day Bill & Sandra Moore Invitational at Navy and produced several solid results at the Fluegel-Moore Tennis Stadium. 

The Bearcats went 7-8 collectively in singles and added a doubles win in the bracketed draws. 

"The team had good performances in singles over the course of the tournament with many close matches against solid competition, head coach Paul Cacares said. "In doubles we had tough first-round matchups against Navy in three of our four matches. The tournament was a good experience for the players to learn from and identify areas we need to work on."

Sophomore Julia Pedraza Palacios went 2-0 to reach the "E" Singles semifinals before an injury halted her run. Sophomore teammate Kayla Castellano earned two wins in the "D" Singles flight before falling in the consolation final. 

The tandem of Arbeloa Lopez and freshman Apara Khandare won their opening match at "B" Doubles against NEC rival FDU before falling in the quarterfinals. 

The Bearcats next host the Tennis Charities of Binghamton Invitational beginning Friday at Recreation Park on the west side of the city.
