Bearcats are picked to finish fifth in the league’s preseason poll

VESTAL, N.Y. – Both Andrew Girolamo and Matthew Rincon have been named to the America East Men's Lacrosse Preseason All-Conference Team, the league announced Tuesday. Additionally, the Binghamton men's lacrosse team was picked to finish fifth in the conference's preseason poll.

This is the second season that the America East has had a preseason all-conference team, which is voted on by the league's coaches. For the first team that was announced back in 2025, Binghamton had three selections in Liam Ferris, Lorenzo Ramos and Connor Winters.

Girolamo took another step forward with the Bearcats during his sophomore season in 2025 when the midfielder received First Team All-Conference honors from the America East. That came after Girolamo scored 17 goals, recorded six assists and collected six ground balls while playing in all of the Binghamton's 14 games. The Mahopac, N.Y., native was previously named to the America East All-Rookie Team in 2024.

Rincon was selected as the league's short stick defensive midfielder for the preseason team after he had a productive junior season in 2025. The West Linn, Ore., native collected 31 ground balls and caused eight turnovers while also scoring two goals and adding three assists. On March 10, Rincon was named Defensive Player of the Week by the America East after he collected eight ground balls, caused two turnovers and scored on goal in Binghamton's 12-10 win at Stony Brook on March 8.

Binghamton's fifth-place finish in the preseason poll comes after the team received 19 points. UAlbany finished first in the poll with 36 points and six first-place votes. Bryant finished second with 29 points and one first-place vote. Vermont took third with 24 points, while UMBC finished fourth with 22.

The Bearcats enter the 2026 season having qualified for the America East Men's Lacrosse Championship in three of the last four seasons (2022-23, 2025). Binghamton has 13 games on its schedule in 2026, including seven home contests at the Bearcats Sports Complex.

Binghamton begins its latest season with a game at Lafayette on Saturday, Feb. 7 at noon.
