Swimming & Diving Splits Dual Meet at Marist

Bearcat men win 165-134, women defeated 177-123

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Senior Liam Preston swept three individual events and freshman Samuel Pikofsky-Christiansen met both NCAA Zone Diving cuts, highlighting the Binghamton swimming & diving teams' dual meet split at Marist on Saturday evening. The Bearcat men took a 165-134 decision but the women were defeated by the host Red Foxes 177-123.

Preston took top honors in the men's 200 free (1:42.97), 50 free (21.89) and 100 free (47.22). Pikofsky-Christiansen, meanwhile, captured both the one- and three-meter diving competitions with scores of 311.10 and 327.30 respectively. In the process, he cleared the NCAA Zone cuts in the one-meter (300.00) and three-meter (320.00) events.

Other double winners for the Bearcats at Marist were sophomore Amir Sadykov in the men's 100 breast (58.34) and 200 breast (2:07.34) as well as fellow sophomore Eva Smith in the women's 100 back (58.52) and 200 back (2:08.07).

The rest of the individual winners on the men's side included junior Harrison Lambert in the 200 fly (1:54.93), freshman Isaih Francis in the 100 back (52.88), sophomore Evan Peters in the 500 free (4:48.86) and senior Patrick Lang in the 100 fly (52.35).

On the women's side, other event winners were freshman Lauren Maierle in the 200 fly (2:10.43), senior Maria Pignatelli in the 100 free (53.92) and freshman Julia Iwanow in the 200 breast (2:19.95).

Binghamton returns home for its Senior Day Meet against Wagner next Saturday at 1 p.m.
