VESTAL, N.Y. – Both
Enzo Allain and
Alex Patel have been chosen as Prime Performers for the month of September by the NEC, the league announced Thursday.
This is the first time that either golfer has received this honor. The duo has started in each of Binghamton's first three competitions this season.
Allain has had a strong start to his collegiate career. The freshman recently finished in third place at the Central New York Challenge Cup on Monday. Facing Colgate and Le Moyne in a tri-match, Allain shot 72-73 = 145/1-over par. That came after he tied for 25th at both the Alex Lagowitz Memorial (73-70-75 = 218/2-over par) and The Goat (76-72-72 = 220/7-over par).
Patel, meanwhile, tied for seventh at the CNY Challenge Cup with a score of 78-74 = 152/9-over par. The sophomore previously tied for 27th at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial (70-72-77 = 219/3-over par).
These are the first conference accolades the Binghamton golf team has received this season. The last time the Bearcats had more than one golfer be named a Prime Performer by the NEC on the same day was on April 2, 2026, when
Sean Shen and
Jack Tebeau earned the recognition. Since Binghamton joined the NEC for golf in 2023, the Bearcats have won the Prime Performer award 14 times.
Binghamton is preparing to host its annual home tournament, the Matthews Auto Collegiate Golf Invitational, from Sunday through Monday at The Links at Hiawatha Landing in Apalachin, N.Y. The opening round tees off at 9 a.m., Sunday, while the final round beings Monday at 9 a.m. Both rounds will have double tee times.
Matthews Auto is the presenting sponsor of Bearcats Golf.
