Bearcat duo honored for performances in season-opening meet

VESTAL, N.Y. - Seniors Fayanne Smith-Salzberg has been named the America East Women's Swimmer of the Week while fellow senior Dylan Norby has been chosen as the conference's Men's Diver of the Week. The awards, which include all meets up through Sunday, are the first weekly accolades handed out by the America East this season.

In the Bearcats' season-opening meet at the Hannah Gibbons Invitational on Sept. 26, Smith-Salzberg took top honors in the women's 50 breast (30.61), 100 breast (1:06.76) and 100 IM (1:00.15). In addition, she swam on the first-place 200 medley relay team which clocked a time of 1:48.35.

This marks the first career weekly honor for Smith-Salzberg.

Norby, meanwhile, won the three-meter diving event and was second in the one-meter competition at the Hannah Gibbons Invitational. His first-place three-meter score of 329.20 met the NCAA Zone Diving Cut (320.00). His runner-up score on the one-meter board, meanwhile, was 292.00.

This represents the third weekly honor of Norby's career. He was previously recognized on both Oct. 7 and Oct. 14 during the 2025-26 season.

Binghamton returns to action Oct. 16-17 with a home dual meet against Bryant.
