About Binghamton
- The Bearcats opened their 2026 season last Tuesday night with a 10-9 loss at Lafayette.
- Andrew Girolamo tied his career high in goals with four against the Leopards. It is the most goals scored by a Bearcat in a season opener for Binghamton since both Gage Adams and Matthew Keegan recorded five in an 18-11 victory against Marist on Feb. 11, 2023, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Girolamo, who also recorded a hat trick at Lafayette in Binghamton's 2025 season opener on Feb. 10, now has five hat tricks in his career.
- Goalie Connor Winters gained national attention with his performance on Tuesday. Not only did the netminder make 15 saves, but he also scored his second collegiate goal late in the third quarter when he fired a shot into the empty Lafayette net from the other end of the field. The last goal Winters scored came in his first season as the starting goalie for the Bearcats at Merrimack on March 18, 2023. Winters also made 13 saves and collected three ground balls to help the Bearcats defeat the Warriors 14-7 in North Andover, Mass.
- Flynn Wilson had a big night at the X as the sophomore won a career-high 13 faceoff attempts. The sophomore, who was named to the America East All-Rookie Team in 2025, previously had a career-best 11 faceoff victories at No. 12 Harvard on March 29, 2025.
- Matthew Rincon, who along with Girolamo was selected as an America East Preseason All-Conference selection before the start of the season, tied Wilson for the team lead in ground balls Tuesday night with four.
- Before joining the Binghamton coaching staff as the offensive coordinator this season, Nik Clinton previously helped St. Bonaventure launch its Division I men's lacrosse program as both a player and as an assistant coach. After playing for the Bonnies from 2019-20, Clinton served as a volunteer assistant at SBU from 2020-22. In 2022, Clinton helped St. Bonaventure win a program-record 11 games and the MAAC regular season championship.
About St. Bonaventure
- The Bonnies began their season with an 11-2 loss at Bucknell on Feb. 6. John Boomer and Tucker Cole scored the lone two goals for St. Bonaventure, while Isaac Farmer made nine saves in goal for the Bonnies.
- St. Bonaventure is led by first-year Head Coach Brendan Storrier, who joined the program after a successful tenure as head coach at Division II Limestone from 2022-25. Storrier won 66 games at Limestone while helping the Saints reach the NCAA tournament each year, including three consecutive trips to the national semifinals from 2022-24.
- Aiden MacDonell returned to St. Bonaventure for a fifth year with the program after he was selected by the Georgia Swarm with the 26th pick in the second round of the National Lacrosse League Draft last fall. Against Bucknell, MacDonell collected two ground balls.
- Patrick Shanahan led St. Bonaventure in scoring in 2025 with 22 points (16 goals, 6 assists). While he was unable to get on the scoresheet against Bucknell, Shanahan did register four ground balls in the season opener.
