VESTAL, N.Y. – In its final dual of the 2025-26 season, the Binghamton wrestling team (7-3, 4-1 EIWA) travels up the road to Ithaca, N.Y., to face Cornell (7-6, 4-1 Ivy) at 1 p.m., Saturday at the Friedman Wrestling Center.
In their last appearance on the mat on Feb. 7, the Bearcats won nine out of 10 bouts to defeat Sacred Heart on the road 29-3. Both No. 19
Carter Baer and
Mikey Squires picked up a major decision during the dual.
In the first installment of the RPI rankings released on Thursday, Baer was ranked No. 16 at 174 lbs., while both
Fin Nadeau and
Trent Sibble were ranked No. 32 at 157 and 285 lbs., respectively. The RPI is a calculation that consists of three factors, with those being winning percentage, opponent winning percentage (strength of schedule) and opponent's opponent winning percentage (opponent's strength of schedule). A wrestler must have wrestled in at least 15 matches to be ranked. Only matches against Division I opponents at the designated weight class count towards the RPI.
Baer also remained ranked at No. 19 in the latest coaches' rankings. The rankings are determined by a vote of three coaches in each weight class. A wrestler must have eight Division I matches in the weight class to be considered, with at least one taking place within the last 30 days. Both coaches' rankings and RPI are among several criteria evaluated by the NCAA Division I Wrestling Committee while selecting at-large bids and seeding wrestlers in the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. Other factors include head-to-head competition, quality wins, conference tournament placement, results versus common opponents and win percentage.
Additionally, five Bearcat wrestlers are ranked in the top six in their respective weight classes for the February edition of the EIWA rankings, which was announced on Tuesday. Baer is ranked No. 3, while Nadeau is ranked No. 4. Squires,
Will Ebert, and
Carson Wagner are ranked No. 5 at 197, 184, and 125 lbs., respectively.
